Moving Hints and Tips

Some friendly tips for your moving experience

There are so many different things to consider when you’re moving everything you own to another address. Here are just a couple of pointers to consider, to simplify the process and de-stress your move:

1. Organise yourself

The most important thing that you can do in preparation is to make sure everything has been booked and packed in advance. Write a to-do list of vital jobs (booking the movers, collecting boxes, etc.) and stay on top of them. While there’s nothing that can prepare you for unforeseen issues on the day, scheduling and organising everything you can will help you breathe easier.

2. Create an inventory

For total peace of mind and to ensure everything gets from A to B safely, it’s a great idea to write down all of the possessions that are in each box to keep with you. Further to this, make sure you clearly label each box (e.g. kitchen 1/2/3 etc.) for easy placement on arrival.

3. Put aside a box or two of ‘emergency’ items

Separately pack anything that you may need for the first 24 or so hours after you’ve moved into your new place. While you may have unpacked a good amount of your belongings by the time you finally make it to bed, there’s a good chance you won’t be completely settled.
